Altais and Paladina Health Debut New Primary Care Clinics In Monterey and Salinas to Serve MCSIG and CVT Members

“Altais Powered by Paladina Health” clinics expand healthcare options during COVID pandemic for thousands of Monterey County’s teachers, municipal employees and their dependents. Clinics offer free flu shots and quick-access, comprehensive primary healthcare

MONTEREY, Calif. (Dec. 8, 2020) – Healthcare services company Altais and direct primary care provider Paladina Health today announced the opening of two state-of-the-art facilities in Monterey and Salinas. These clinics, providing both virtual care and in-person services, will exclusively serve Monterey County’s more than 13,000 members of MCSIG (Municipalities, Colleges, Schools Insurance Group) and more than 4,000 members of CVT (California’s Valued Trust) and their eligible dependents.

To celebrate the openings and encourage healthy behavior, the clinics are providing free flu shots to all MCSIG patients. According to the CDC, both flu and COVID-19 viruses are spreading now. Healthcare systems could become overwhelmed treating patients. This means getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever, especially for frontline workers like teachers. To register or schedule an in-person visit for flu shots or other needs, please call (866) 808-6005 or visit paladinahealth.com/MCSIG. The clinics are now open for MCSIG members; members of CVT will have access to the clinics beginning January 1, 2021.

The 3,000-square foot Monterey clinic is located at 2 Lower Ragsdale Drive; the 4,000-square foot Salinas facility is at 901 North Main Street. Altais is partnering with Paladina Health, one of the nation’s largest direct primary care providers, to manage both clinics.

Altais is proud to work with Paladina Health to open two new primary care clinics in Monterey County,” said Jeff Bailet, M.D., president and chief executive officer for Altais. “These clinics provide this important group of essential workers access to high-quality, comprehensive primary care services, including behavioral health, with dedicated care teams. Even if MCSIG or CVT members have no immediate healthcare needs, we encourage them to make their first in-person appointment now. That way, they can get a flu shot and establish a relationship with their healthcare team.”

The new Altais Powered by Paladina Health clinics provide comprehensive primary care services for all ages via dedicated care teams of healthcare professionals. Services provided include everything from urgent care and routine check-ups to chronic condition management, behavioral health needs and lab and pharmacy services. Patients can schedule same-day, next-day or virtual visits and have 24/7 access to their care team with minimal wait times.

“The doctors and our healthcare teams at the Altais Powered by Paladina Health clinics look forward to getting to know our new patients,” said Margaret Simon, M.D., one of the primary care physicians practicing at the Monterey clinic. “Patients will also benefit from getting to see the same provider for each visit, which enriches the experience for both the doctor and the patient. We are confident that new patients will appreciate the quality and convenience of care at these new clinics.”

“MCSIG is delighted to offer our members expanded healthcare options in new, conveniently located clinics and provide patients 24/7 virtual access to their care team,” said Roxanne Buckner, executive director for MCSIG. “Increasing healthcare access for our local educators and government employees will help improve the county’s overall healthcare capacity, particularly at a time when the system is stressed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The opening of these two new Altais Powered by Paladina Health clinics could not have come at a better time.”

“As a healthcare benefits administrator working exclusively within the educational community, CVT is always striving to connect its members with the very best healthcare available,” said Valerie Cornuelle, CVT’s executive director. “That’s why we are excited to partner with Altais Powered by Paladina Health to provide additional primary care services to our essential workers and their families in the Monterey and Salinas areas.”

“We are honored to be the direct primary care partner for Altais,” said Chris Miller, CEO of Paladina Health. “Our combined effort will be a significant game changer for employers and organizations eager to provide more attractive health care solutions that improve health outcomes and create total cost of care savings for both employers and employees.”

How it works

Currently, the clinics serve members of MCSIG and, starting January 1, members of CVT. They are not open to the general public.  Eligible members may schedule in-person or virtual appointments now at either clinic by visiting www.paladinahealth.com/MCSIG or calling (866) 808-6005. Healthcare providers  at the Altais Powered by Paladina Health clinics are able to address multiple health concerns in a single visit given that they see 70% fewer patients than the national average each day. The average wait time per visit is under 5 minutes. Virtual appointments with doctors and clinical staff are also available. While patients may also continue to use their current healthcare providers, most common healthcare needs, including behavioral health support, common lab tests and prescriptions, can be handled at the new clinics.

Services offered at the new clinics include:

  • Same-day and next-day appointments, including flu shot appointments
  • Routine well checks
  • Acute care and 24/7 virtual and phone access to care teams for after-hours and urgent needs – including pediatrics
