OAKLAND, Calif. — September 14, 2026 — Altais today announced that Rose S. Cohen, MD, MSc, FACC, has joined the organization as Chief Medical Officer. In this role, Dr. Cohen will provide clinical leadership across Altais’ Health Value organization, helping advance strategies that improve quality, strengthen care management and utilization management, and support physicians in delivering high-value care.
Dr. Cohen brings more than two decades of clinical and healthcare leadership experience spanning health plans, health systems, and physician organizations. Most recently, she served as a Medical Director at Cigna Healthcare, where she provided physician leadership for national programs serving millions of commercial members. Her work has focused on utilization optimization, population health and aligning providers, acute care management, pharmacy, and health plan operations.
At Altais, Dr. Cohen will partner with Chief Physician Executive David Cohen, MD, and Altais’ clinical and operational teams to continually enhance the quality, efficiency, and affordability of care. She will work closely with physicians and other clinical leaders across the Altais network to strengthen clinical performance, advance evidence-based care and develop programs that support better outcomes for patients and providers.
“Rose brings an exceptional combination of clinical expertise and experience leading quality and value-based care initiatives at scale,” said Nishant Anand, MD, president and chief executive officer of Altais. “She understands both the realities physicians face in caring for patients and the systems required to make high-quality, affordable care possible. Her leadership will strengthen our Health Value organization and deepen our partnership with physicians as we continue building a better model for healthcare delivery.”
Dr. Cohen is a board-certified cardiologist who has remained active in clinical practice throughout her healthcare leadership career. In addition to her work at Cigna, she has practiced cardiology at Tahoe Forest Hospital and John Muir Health and previously held clinical and physician leadership roles with Contra Costa Health Services and The Permanente Medical Group.
